We see what the founder of Horologically Unique just can’t do without

Despite being not-quite-28, Singapore-born collector, André Kusni, has the air of a collector decades into his horological journey. At the very least, he has the collection for it, with an emphasis on ultra-rare independent timepieces. Part of that journey has been consolidating his collection with a carousell.sg page dubbed ‘Horologically Unique’, which has since transitioned into a fully-fledged microbrand (www.horologicallyunique.com).

Having just delivered the last in his debut run of watches – the HU-01 – Horologically Unique is into new projects.  In the meantime, we turn out André pockets to see what he just can’t do without.

Watch: Chronomètre a Paris Calibre 14 by Jean-Baptiste Viot: This is a watch I’ve wanted in my life since I was 17, and came very close to giving up on ever owning it due to the fact only 7 of them exist in the world. But in 2023 a miracle happened, because my 형 (Korean for big brother) is a man of his word, and helped me out with the impossible. Today it’s more or less my daily.

Phone / Wallet: It’s super convenient to have them together, since I’m on my phone a lot. The “wallet” also stores my medicine, wet tissues, and disposable plastic gloves for when I want to use my hands and eat but don’t want to get dirty.

Pocket Watch: An Observatory Besançon Rattrapante silver pocket watch by L. Leroy & Cie Paris. Like a child who needs his favourite toy on his hand, I’ve been inseparable from this recently. I tend to set it to another timezone so it essentially functions as a separated GMT complication for me.

Wipes: I am a bit of a clean freak, have developed the habit of carrying wet tissues with me everywhere so this is extremely important for me.

Fragrance: Panpuri perfume oil. I’m particularly sensitive to smell especially when it’s a bad smell, so this helps A LOT. I love the smell of green tea and jasmine, so this is IT for me.

Pen: Muji smooth writing gel pen, just in case I ever need to write something.

Knife: My Karambit, because who doesn’t love that sleek, curved blade? I LOVE Mofusand (a viral cat created by Japanese illustrator, Juno), hence the stickers on the sheath.
